Re: What’s EveryOne Listening To in Other Bands & Artists
Listening to shit loads of Rocket From The Crypt at the moment in pre-hyperbolic state of excitement as today it’s officially confirmed they are back! And I’m drinking port to go with it because I’m quite classy…cheers!

Re: Starbucks and whatnot in Chit-Chat
I don’t have a problem with companies or individuals avoiding tax payments as such- at the end of the day if you found a legal loophole that benefitted you, of course you would exploit it. I think this is acrowd pleasing gesture- after the Jimmy Carr incident backfired and turned the spotlight back on their own affairs this all feels a bit like an attempt to get the public on side.
Once again we’re seeing what is potentially the worst government in history showing just how completely out of it’s depth it is- you just have to look at how they’re borrowing more money than Labour did, the analogy I’d use is it’s like running up massive credit card debts to try and pay off the mortgage! It’s that stupid ethos of fast measures with no thought to the long term implications. There’s a very definate air of rabbit in the headlights with these lot, you just have to look at the number of u-turns they made on their policies, and I cannot fathom why they would cut HM Revenue staff to save about £300,000 without actually sitting down and working out how much tax revenue they would lose due to lost staffing powers- I can’t remember how much it is exactly but they’ve lost millions in missed taxation.
Will these companies pay back the tax? I very much doubt it- I imagine the excuse they’ll use is something along the lines that they are staying within the spirit of the rules…oh hang on, where did we hear that one before?

Re: Starbucks and whatnot in Chit-Chat
Possibly- if Starbucks, Vodafone and Amazon paid the tax they had avoided apaprently it would pay off half the deficit in one swoop. I don’t know why this has become such an issue recently, it should have been obvious that a party whose chancellor has a father who used to advise companies on how to legally avoid tax was never actually going to do anything of real benefit for the masses!
