Firewater

This one’s mainly going to appeal to Hooch as I doubt anybody else on here knows them, but I got the new album ” The Man of the Burning Tightrope” on import the other day. Hooch- it’s odd! I’m not sure it’s one you’ll like on first hearing, I’m having to give it a few listens to get ito it myself. It’s still got Tod’s trademark cynical lyrics and his ex junkie drawl, but it’s almost going over into some kind of mexican crossover! Gringo core anyone?

It’s probably closest to Get off the cross…we need the wood for the fire in tone, which is a shame, because I was hoping for more spy themes!

Heh heh, can’t wait to hear it on Saturday (and claim my 30% discount when I buy it from HMV ;)). Have been listening to Ponzi sooo much since it arrived, I’m totally addicted. Daisy keeps singing Caroline as well, which is really cute.

Will get round to buying it at some point, probably after Belfast though cause I’m totally broke at the moment. Especially since some fucker did me out of £40 getting a refund on a perfectly good plane ticket

Shame on you, Dano, for underestimating our musical wisdom.
I loved Cop Shoot Cop, so I’ve got to know Firewater (but I think CSC were better).
By the way, they’re on tour in Europe in September (at least, a show in Colgne is announced for the 21st).

Yeah, but will the buggers play in England? Will they fuck as like!

I said I doubt anybody else here will have heard them, I didn’t say outright that they wouldn’t have! ( Can you detect my blatant wriggling out of this? )

I got into Firewater through the CSC route, and I got into CSC after seeing them support Therapy? I keep meaning to check otu the Red Expendables stuff but haven’t got around to it yet!

Hooch, here’s the link I promised you: http://www.firewater.tv/

CSC supporting T?, that sounds great. I’ve only seen them live once at a showcase togehter with Pavement, Scarce, Heather Nova and the German equivalent of Richard Ashcroft, Blumfeld.
I also never came across RedEx.

If you check out Phil Pueleo’s site he’s selling the RedEx disc, along with a live CSC recording.

Just to water the mouths of dano and Hooch. Firewater are touring Europe very early next year: the dates can be found here.
But it seems they’re only playing London in the UK.

I emailed IDB Booking to find out when they’d announce the venue for the show and this is the response I got:

“Dear Sarah
Firewater will not do any UK shows this time, we hope to do this w/ the next tour fall 04.”

WHHHHHHHHHHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY? :( :( :( :(

I really loved the last album, The Golden Hour, but haven’t linked to anything from it here as it really does pay to listen to it as a whole. Bit of background about it here if the other stuff sparks your interest :)
