I’ll be buying these from Amazon or someone similar if they happen, still in a bit of a dispute with Southern over a missing record sleeve after nearly a year :-/

^Maybe a bit harsh on Southern, I’ve not contacted them for a while but they were supposed to get back to me.

I presume the band will still receive royalties for these remasters? I’ll be interested to see what they can do with them. Pleasure Death (as with Nurse) really needs the sound beefing up a lot, but I don’t know if that can be achieved with a remaster or not.

Yeah - good to see what’s changed, but not the same as it was first time round.

I still would though.

(Babyteeth and Pleasuredeath I mean)

I actually love the sound on both those albums as they are - the lo-fi thing was a real eye-opener for me when I first heard them as a teenager, they sounded scary and weird and still have that atmosphere for me. What’s more interesting for me is if there will be any extras - live stuff, radio sessions, demos, etc etc… Some sleevenotes and photos would be appreciated too. I bought them both on vinyl last year, the artwork just looks awesome on 12”!

I agree, the sound is spot on for Babyteeth. Even the live versions over the years sounded too clean!

Yeah, Babyteeth sounds good already. I’ve always thought PD and Nurse lacked something though - they need a new source of raw power.

Maybe this will give them back their brains, so to speak.

I never really noticed much difference between the quality of Babyteeh and Pleasure Death. It all sounds messy but it fits the music.
I’d buy them anyway, but I hope the band get some input into this and don’t let them do a Rammstein remaster (‘Turn it up until it hurts!’) because that’d be a real shame.

I’d be interested to see T? do what the Pumpkins are doing at the moment with their reissues. I’m sure they’ve at least got some interesting live recordings they can put out.

I met Harvey Birrel (the man who did the job on Pleasure Death) back in 2010 and he said then that it is happening..so it just seems to take its time..

As for Nurse you can tell they really didnt like the finished mix, the first 6 songs were re-recorded one way or another for the bbc/b-sides etc lol

i wonder if they did more re-recordings like the ones from 1993 (Accelerator & Neck Freak) cos they were miles better

Yeah, a decent remix of Nurse, or even re-recording the whole thing would be fine by me, tis my favourite album despite the production.

Glad to see Nurse appreciation - I love that album, thin production or otherwise. When I first got into the band I got Troublegum and Nurse and the whole sound/drums/bass/vocals/production/lyrics on Nurse freaked my teenage mind right out, I’d never heard anything like it (having only really been into Maiden, Queen and Guns n Roses up to that point). Still a favourite of mine. Must point out that Gone is still a spine-tingling track for me, I think the production really suits that one. The cello is creepy as hell.

I love Nurse, always have. It is the only recording of theirs that possibly could be improved soundwise by a little boost, but that’s not to say I haven’t been listening to it regularly for 20 years!

AM I the only one who thinks that Nurse sounds great BECAUSE of the reverbed out thin production ?

It what gives it it’s character.

Well, it is just too quiet. If they boosted the sound like they did for the Nurse tracks on So Much for the 10 Year Plan, it would probably be fine.

LOL!!

Good news, but i’d still sell my mother for a remastered/remixed/rejigged Nurse.
