i still haven’t got mine yet. without sounding silly, how can i listen to it before it arrives?

Marlowe is in no way dour surely? Although not that many people seem too fond of instrumentals (love them myself) - they’ve already played GYDHOMS live although I wasn’t at any of the gigs, and Ecclesiastes isn’t a rocking track but they’ve played Moment Of Clarity live and it’s never gone down badly, not exactly a rocking song (although VERY good), Ghost Trio will be fine, pretty much straight rock track that, as are BYWYAF and Why Turbulence?, Stark Raving Sane is fairly frantic and short - so lots of fun to jump around to. And while I’m not too taken with the middle of Plague Bell it’s got a powerful riff, the more I listen the more that comes across, looking forward to hearing how some of it goes live as I’m fairly sure there’s more than 1 layer of guitar in places (more Steve on 2nd guitar?)

Little one sings along in the car to “everyfink under the sun is a surd!” pretty funny for a 3 year old!!

i’ve been listening to the album for the past couple of days… and i must say i’m really impressed. i was a bit cautious before listening to it as i feared it would be too “arty” and sound like crooked timber -which i wasn’t very fond of-, but i was sold immediately after the first listen. i’m loving the different feel each track has and how they all fit within the album, plus the fact that the band tries out new sounds and approaches, one thing for sure is that you never get bored with t?
it’s still too early but i think it’s their strongest effort in many many years… very solid album with no filler tracks for me (except maybe for marlow, which still, isn’t bad at all).

All I’m saying is, I love Therapy? (honestly I do), and I’ve been banging on about them for the last 18 years to everyone I know (friends and family), to the point of annoyance, and some of these people are coming to the Bristol show to see them for the first time, partly because I insisted, and partly because of Skindred, and I want them to fly the flag of Therapy? live rock brilliance. This, I hope, is with such tracks as Teethgrinder, Innocent X, Evil Elvis, Trigger Inside, Polar Bear, Jude The Obscene, Sister, Stop It You’re Killing Me, Gimme Back My Brain and I Told You I Was Ill, because these tracks rock, and I love them. These tracks, and so many more, rock so hard, and I assume this was the reason why the boys first formed the band in the first place, to rock hard! But if they play The Buzzing or Plague Bell (or, I’m sorry, but nearly all the ABCOL tracks, apart from Living In.. which is great), these people will laugh at my allegiance and never listen to T? again. There is a fine line between selling out and not appealing to new listeners. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t think T? should just make songs purely on the basis that they will sell to the lowest common rock denominator, (ie sell out and make Troublegum 2), but I honestly think they have gone to far with this album, life is too short for philosophers, historical writers and obtuse noises. Can’t we just rock the fuck out? Isn’t that the whole point?

Too be fair I totally agree with you, and thanks, I will enjoy the gig, and I’ll defend T? to the end of my music listening career, there is a light at the end of the tunnel!

I’m not sure CH, but global have sent me a replacement, the other copy (I ordered 2) is a bit scuffed but they’ll all be like that, it’s the only disappointing thing about the album - the vinyl comes in a hard card inner sleeve, no poly-liner or even paper inner sleeve inside that, so they’ll all be slightly marked. It’s frustrating, I get for some people the vinyl is a novelty, but for me it’s the main way I listen to music and I pay the premium for that, so I’d like it to be better thought through by the label (It’s not just them, lots of labels seem to be doing it, my latest 2 Mono LPs are the same and they’re a really quiet band for long periods of their songs so you can really hear the effect :-(. However I’m emailing global later to ask what they want me to do with the scratched copy and I’m going to mention it to them and suggest using poly-lined or paper inners in future releases, it won’t cost them a lot extra per LP and I’ll happily pay an extra pound for it.

fair play to GLOBAL then for their response ,i guess the best we can do for now is to put it in a polyliner as soon as its received ,at least it will save extra scuffing ,although like you say its a bit thoughtless of the record label ,i think ill drop a line to “record collector mag” pointing out the problem ,and see if it gets any response

i wont mention GLOBAL or THERAPY? ,ill just point that there seems to be a rising trend in card sleeves in general ,im a diplomat !!!!

Got my copy this morning and its gonna be on the stereo all weekend.

I *was* going to order it but i decided to buy it from HMV on the release date instead to be sure… Even though I can probably listen to it on Spotify on Sunday night …

I hope they don’t release another “Gold Edition”. I don’t need to get some of the same tracks twice. Just an EP of leftover stuff would be much better. That’s my opinion anyway. Plus, I hate when bands release special editions *after* the main edition comes out - it’s a blatant rip-off of hardcore fans (I’m not counting special editions that come out 10 or 20 years later though).

But I agree with you about an e.p. of leftovers. ;)
