The True Blood books are good. Not too taxing and you can get through them pretty quick as they’re not too long.
The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafón is a good one too.

For further info on any suggestions, I’d check out the Amazon reviews.

I did indeed. I thought it was really good. They’d changed a few things here and there from the books and it all seemed a bit rushed with each book compressed into two episodes, but despite that they did a good job of it. What did you think?

Bill Bryson is fantastic - I read The life and times of the Thunderbolt Kid on the plane once and my girlfriend had to keep shushing me as I was laughing so hard - can’t wait for the new one to come out in paperback (unless it already - haven’t checked for a while).
Having finally finished a 900 page biog on Churchill, I’m now racing through Joe Simpson’s Storms of Silence - very thought-provoking, although the main thought it provokes is that I want to see more mountains…

Yeah, I’d agree with that pretty much! It’s a shame that they compressed it into only 6 episodes, they could’ve got a longer series out of it but maybe that would have cost too much or summat. Definitely hope they do the next book, and that one’s clearly got to have a sequel so plenty more to go on :D

I just started getting lost to the genious world of Henning Mankell. Even though it’s crime stories series and i’m not the biggest fun, the atmosphere that’s been created from the writer, is pretty dark and curious with a lot of potential in it!
there’s a lot of published books already, a full catalogue actually. After research to the internet, i also saw that there are two TV series. One is published from the BBC, and the second one is a Swedish production. I know from now that the forthcoming nights will be occupied from both series.
by the way, therapy? is playing this weekend in Athens. 6 more days to go and then…Up with the sickness mothertrunkers

Pretty much!! I had a quick look in the shop yesterday. It’s not very well laid out and it’s not really set out in categories, apart from a big children’s books section and a good few shelves of Collins dictionaries. Saw a few things I’ll pick up soon tho. Tony Iommi’s Iron Man was there.

I’m now on book two of The Hunger Games. Recommended to me by about fifty teenagers. Not exactly a challenging read but still a page turner. Strong female protagonist who kicks ass (and shoots people with arrows). Would recommend, even though it is a kids’ book. Good dystopian fantasy-with obvious nods to Battle Royale.

Picked up Jon Ronson’s ‘The Psychopath Test’ oat the airport for a holiday read but didn’t get much chance to read it whilst away - got more into it on the way home and finished it instead of gettting some sleep, then had to go straight into work… but its really funny, a bit scary, very readable and highly recommended to anyone that liked ‘The Men Who Stare At Goats’
