Well, the BT / PD re-releases have been confirmed a number of times. I think BT is out this year if i’m not mistaken. :)

Well… I wouldn’t mind them in a boxset, but I’d like to have each album (or EP, whatever) on its own disc still - not sharing a disc, and without any extra tracks shoved on the end. I’m weird like that, I like to have just the actual album tracks on a CD by themselves, it bugs me when extra stuff is on the same disc… so let’s make that 4 discs… :-P

But you could always rip them and burn them off as two discs yourself ;)

Shouldn’t the deluxe edition also have vinyl and USB versions and various other bits of bumphanalia like the reissue of the Stone Roses debut?

Yeah, I’m similar. Slayers “Reign in Blood” re-issue was ruined by putting two shitty, inferior recorded songs right after “Raining Blood”.
The Caucasian Psychosis release had blatantly inferior artwork to BT/PD and annoyingly mixed “Dancin with Manson” and “Skinning Pit” together. I’ve always loved the black & white artwork on the back of BT/PD, so they should always be seperate for that reason alone!

But the production on Pleasure Death sounds totally different to the production on Babyteeth. I always thought Babyteeth had a meatier sound to it than PD or Nurse.
And as for sticking it in 2 playlists on my pc/ipod… yes, I can do that, but I tend to listen to music mostly on CDs in my stereo. Course, I can always press STOP after one album finishes before the next comes on, or before the bonus tracks start, but I always prefer a separate disc for all the extras. An album is an entity of its own, so should get a disc to itself :-)

I wasn’t aware they did that to Reign in Blood. Fucking blasphemy!!

Very annoying indeed. I hope they will be released as two seperate discs as that’s what they were and that’s what they should be. A box-set would be fine, with an extra disc with bonus material would be nice (+ some goodies maybe) but most importantly decent booklets with liner notes.
Or as a bonus disc, they could do re-recorded versions of every track, with the current line up :-)
I’m not looking forward to the remix album either, I’d much rather have a brand new ep or single with one or two unreleased tracks.

On the grounds that the band seem to regard BT and PD as separate albums, I think we should too.

Remix albums are SO 1990’s and they were shit then; live albums are pointless and often released so that bands can fill up their record contract.
REissues, however, are welcomed as they please old timers like us and those new to the the band

Interesting discussion. I wouldn’t consider a remix album to be new content (imo, it’s just some other band/artist mixing existing T? material). As for live albums, live content is usually otherwise obtainable by trading, or tv/radio appearances. For example, 2FM/BBC recently broadcast a lot of their Oxegen appearance. For every album released, there’s usually been at least one good quality live show available somewhere - another example is the Amsterdam show from the OCFA tour.
But getting recorded material sonically upgraded to 21st century standards is very appealing. Add some unheard sessions/demos etc into the bargain and bobs your uncle :-)

Ahh, well if everything’s going to be scrubbed up rather than repackaged, then yes, fair enough - would be nice if the early tracks weren’t quieter than newer ones (I’m assuming its not just me here).
In hindsight, having got both the Manics best of with a remix CD, and the Massive Attack one, I’ve never actually bothered playing the remix CDs all the way through and tend to skip them after a few seconds if my ipod throws them up.
Completion aside, I don’t see much point in live recordings unless i) they’re from a gig you actually went to, or ii) the band do something different, like the one with the band playing the Star Spangled Banner at the start of Disgracelands. Whole thing smacks a little of old rope but any excuse for another tour…

Surely nobody can argue that live DVDs are a bad thing if theyre of bands you never get to see due to tickets going in 5 seconds or the live show being so huge it needs to be seen .
I really want a U2 360 tour dvd coz i’ll never be able to go to an actual show.

Oh yeah, dvds are cool - they have pretty much replaced the live album. The glory days of classic live albums (Lizzy, AC/DC, Maiden etc) seem to be gone as bands now release dvds. It makes sense too, same shaped disc but you can fit a hell of a lot more on a dvd!
I’d have no problem with another Therapy? dvd (full of extra goodies as well as a live show, of course!).

I don’t mind live CDs at all anyway, and I tend to re-listen to those more than I re-watch a live DVD. The only downside to a live CD is if the gig was longer than 80 minutes so they trim it down to fit on one disc.
Still, having said that, I’d still say I prefer a live DVD to a live CD. But ideally I’d like a set which includes both. Like the forth-coming Nirvana Live At Reading set will have :)
