Started by gimme back my brainsaw (Does everything start with destruction?) in Chit-Chat

I feel guilty, i hate star trek, i hate everything about it, but still i went to see the new film last night and I loved it, im suprised at how easy it was to follow, im shocked that those blokes with the wierd foreheads wernt in it mind and I feel as though the time travel plot device was only used as an excuse to give lennoard nemory a role in the film, and simon peggs attempt at a scottish accent was piss poor but he worked well as a light relief character. im a bit miffed though as to why in the future a young kid joyriding would be listening to the beastie boys, wouldnt that be considered classical music in the future>

Saw it on Saturday night with the wife. We both thought the movie was pretty great with the guy playing (young) Spock stealing the show. Agreed, though, the Nimoy part was pretty much shoehorned in. I thought Pegg was hilarious, though I can’t properly comment on his accent, being a Yank and all. ;-)

According to the Sunday Telegraph’s reviewer the Klingons were in it - I think he saw the wrong film as he talked about Mr Zulu (who?) and the holodeck (which won’t be invented in Star Trek for another 100 years or so I believe).

Thought Karl Urban was good as Bones - v diffferent to other roles he’s done. And as for Zoe Saldana…

Yeah! CE. You’re bang on there.
They basically did the whole time travel thing to re-boot the whole franchise which had gotten pretty boring the last decade or more.
It should also keep the fanboys happy as the the entire previous ST universe has not been totally ditched.

That muppet reviewer was probably talking about the training simulator program in the Academy. Heard about the Holodeck from TNG series and put 2 and 2 together to get 22, not 4.

I bet squall is one, ive been scouring star trek forums to see what they think and they all seemed to be wrapped up arguing about canon and timelines and inconsistancies, it gave me a headache.

McCoy was great I thought. Not too sure about Chekov, think he might have overdone the accent a bit. I know hes actually russian, but he was properly hamming it up!
