I saw him in Amsterdam earlier in the year, great gig. He does have a setlist of great tunes but a lot of his album stuff isn’t particularly interesting.

Are we allowed to go off topic freely now then? :D To be fair I think Ian Brown is overrated and John Squire’s solo stuff underrated (I don’t think there’ll be any more…apparently he doesn’t play guitar anymore, he’s an artist don’t you know)

I wonder when Axl is actually going to start promoting the album with things like interviews, a tour, music videos etc…
I know he is being all artsy and wants the music to speak for itself, but c’mon.

I suppose getting dropped by their record company won’t help.
Having no record to promote probably has something to do with the fact that they aren’t doing any promo at the moment, though.
Slash has been interviewed for Classic Rock as he was at the CR awards, as has Duff, so they aren’t in hiding as such.
Slash is working on a solo album, so he’ll have been holed up in a studio somewhere, and I imagine VR as a whole are spending time looking for a new singer.
I think the talk of a GnR reunion is wishful thinking on the press’ behalf.

About the 17 years thing: it’s hard to get over it when this album sounds so out of date and I just don’t get how this isn’t an issue for anyone else. Just listen to “If The World” for Christ’s sake.
Also, does it really come as a surprise that this album doesn’t turn out to be the megaseller some people apparently expected it to be? It’s been a joke for the last 10 years at least and there’s not one song on there that sounds like a single.
Axl Rose is so going down now. He’ll remain the same big mouthed bastard, only his stardom has officially ended now.

I dont care what you say about Axl he knows the business pretty well, in fact I think thats where some of the problems with the old band came from he knew how to do things in a business sense and wanted to keep things above board and shit they just wanted to make music and diddnt understand his actions sometimes causing confusion.

They were boring when I saw them after T? at Download in 2006, so I imagine they’re even worse now. To be honest, who wants to see guitar and keyboard solos from a bunch of unknowns? Even if Slash came back, I still wouldn’t want to listen to a guitar solo… just play some fucking songs, lads!!

Kinda found it amusing that the guy playing slash, I mean their guitar player, during the second song on that vid - stands playing his solo wearing a big hat and smoking a fag, wearing his sunburst les paul low slung…
He must have been watching vids or something to get the look right. He just missed off the mirrored aviators and perm.
