Together at last!
Posted on September 15, 2005 in Driving, Meetings

On Sunday 11 September my wife and I picked up Martin and his 8 year old son Dannique, and drove to the last King Cruise of this year.
On arrival I had the surprise of my life!
That cannot be Marcel and Wendy's black '67 Cougar, can it?! The last time I saw the "Koekert", it wasn't ready at all, it still needed some welding, the whole interior installed and to go through the APK inspection! And where are the Wolfrace wheels? With a big smile on his face Marcel tells us that Jaap and he have worked their asses off to have the car ready, including replacing the rear brake cylinders (because the rear brakes failed the inspection). And that they had decided not to tell us, although this was very hard!
And then, when the car was finally ready, Marcel almost lost one of the wheels while driving home! Apparently some wheel nuts where not secured thightly enough... The worst thing was that he had now damaged the alloy wheel so badly, that it needed replacement. After some searching, Wendy decided to pull Marcel out of this crisis by buying 4 brand new wheels and tyres at Tyra!
So here they are, together at last; the '67 Mercury Cougar and the '67 Ford Mustang!
(and some other nice rides; a Chevy Impala, and a 2005 'Stang GT-350)

hi, quite impressive the work that was done on your pony. i live in austria and bought a 68 from a guy in germany. if you can and want to drop a line. i'd like to chat about the engine rebuilding that you did since i have that planned with mine in the near future. best regards from vienna
I have just been enjoying your website. I purchased a Mustang coupe in August that is very simular to yor convertable. It was built in San Jose in September 1966 and has the same interior as yours. Mine has the door trim over the courtesy lights that you were getting. I just started the restoration of the console and my parts are dissassembled for cleaning and repainting. I like how your instrument cluster came out with the chrome paint. Your car is also very close in color to mine and has the same wheel covers. I blew the engine and have a remanufactured engine and transmission being put in soon. I got to drive my car about 30 miles from southern Vermont to northern Massachusetts before the motor froze up. After it gets running again I will have the AC repaired. The last owner had torn the heater box apart because he didn't know how to remove it properly to change the heater core. I cannot find a remanufactured one anywhere that fits a car with AC. I will need to look at the floors and repair any rust there this winter. I am having break light electrical issues now and also working on getting the dash lights working. I will look for the grounding wire as you spoke about. I think you might enjoy pictures of my car but I can't send them here. Do you have an email address I can send them to? You have a great website! Thanks
